Aidy happy with a win
Aidy Boothroyd was pleased to get the new season up and running with a win as Coventry beat Portsmouth 2-0 at the Ricoh Arena.
A double from forgotten man Freddy Eastwood was enough for the Sky Blues, who kicked off Boothroyd's reign in charge with a notable scalp.
The game came at the end of a week during which Portsmouth were saved from possible liquidation, and Boothroyd admitted his men had opted to focus only on themselves during the build-up.
He said: "With Portsmouth's position we had to focus on ourselves and make sure we were right and got off to a good start.
"We deserved the victory and it was certainly a hard-fought win. There were still some fantastic players on the team sheet when they brought it through to the dressing room."
