A Number of Former Sky Blues On International Duty

There were a number of former Coventry City players involved on a night of World Cup 2014 Qualifiers. 

Former Coventry City forward Robbie Keane scored a 17th minute penalty for the Republic Of Ireland in a 3-1 against Kazakhstan.

Danny Sturridge played for England in their 2-0 win over Poland at Wembley in a game attended by a number of City supporters and one which saw England as the only home nation to qualify for the World Cup Finals.

Craig Bellamy made his final appearance for Wales, who are uncertain over the future of Chris Coleman. Wales snatched a highly creditable 1-1 draw with a late Arron Ramsey goal.

Gordon Strachan had his first home win as manager of Scotland in a World Cup qualifier when his side beat Croatia 2-0 at Hampden Park.  

Former City captain Sammy Clingan played for Northern Ireland in a 1-1 draw in Israel. Steven Davis scored an equaliser in the 72nd minute for Michael O'Neill's side.

Michael Mifsud, earned his 101st cap for Malta but they were beaten 6-0  by Denmark, who had former City loanee Kasper Schmeichel in goal.

Former City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson captained Iceland in their 1-1 draw in Norway.
