Coventry City captain Carl Baker has spoken about the players who are still in contract but have been told that they are not part of Steven Pressley's plans.

Around six players who cannot be named as they are still in talks with the club about settling their futures but were well known first teamers last season, have been told by the City boss that they are free to find alternative employment.

Talks are understood to be on-going over pay-offs and the players do have the option of sitting on their contracts and staying at the club in the hope that Pressley, which knowing Coventry City's record for manager's is not beyond the realms of fantasy, gets ousted and someone new gives them a chance.

Carl Baker admitted that he was not shocked by the amount that had been told by the Scot that they were not in his plans and said to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: "There  are a lot of good players at the club but there are also a lot who maybe have not contributed enough for what the gaffer wants.

"It's good the manager came in when he did as he has had a chance to see how the lads fit into the team and see what he wants to do.

"It doesn't necessarily mean the players are not good enough if they have been told they can go, it just means they don't fit into the gaffer's style of play or his work ethic, which is fair enough.

"It is a shame because there was a great bunch of lads there but that's football."
