Sphinx Boss On Saturday's Win

Coventry Sphinx manager Luke Hopkins has described his side’s 2-0 win over Tipton Town on Saturday as ‘a brilliant performance’.

“This was a brilliant performance which takes us to five game unbeaten in the league and pushes us into the top six where we feel we belong,” said Hopkins to the Sphinx website.”The first 40 minutes weren’t great from either team but with the conditions and the styles of play it was a stale mate and with minimal mistakes from both teams, I thought it made it a tough game.”But on 43 minutes, Ash Wilks did what he does best and scored with a great strike from 30 yards out on the volley and the Tipton keeper struggling to see it let alone stop it, it was that fast.”That gave us a great platform to start the second half and we then got a second with good play down the right through Cain and Wilks before a good finish from Kiam Galdins scored his second in as many games.”We made a few changes and the style of play and it opened the game up for us to create more chances with Aden Moore coming close to carry on his good run of goals.”We have a busy period coming up with six games in sixteen days. Add in the festive celebrations with families, friends, work etc and it’s a tough time of the year.

“I think of we can have a good festive period and if others don't, it will really help us out and maintain a top six finish.NEXT GAME SATURDAY 21ST COVENTRY SPHINX V HEATH HAYES 3PM KICK OFF AT SPHINX DRIVE
