£10 plus Taxi Fare To See City At Northampton

The real price of watching City at Northampton

The few hundred expected Coventry City supporters trying to get to Sixfields to see The Sky Blues play a home game could face having to pay out twenty pounds to get there and back from Coventry.

With City unlikely to be providing buses from Coventry to the games after Tim Fisher said at the first Fans Forum included goodwill rather than any provision for travel, supporters forced to use public transport will have to pay £9.90 for a day return from Coventry train station.

Sixfields is a two miles walk from Northampton Train Station and Northampton Town's official website say that it best to get a taxi to the ground, adding at least five pounds each way to the cost.

For those who go to every game, this could work out at over £500 extra a season.

Directions according to Northampton Town's website

From The South:  Leave the M1 at Junction 15A and take the A43 towards Northampton and you will come to the ground on your right.

From The North:  Leave the M1 at Junction 16 and take the A45 towards Northampton and you will come to the ground on your right.

The Sixfields stadium is well signposted around the area. There are two large sized car parks located at the ground, which cost £4.

Stagecoach run buses from Greyfriars bus station. You can get the D1/D2/D3 (15 and 45 mins past each hour) from bay 12 that run to the bus stop by the Sixfields roundabout. The 22/22A (10 and 40 mins past the hour) runs from bay 14 to the bus stop by the Study Centre on Edgar Mobbs Way. The number 5 from bay 14 (56 and 26 mins past the hour) runs to the bus stop by Sainsburys. You can also get the 9/9A from bay 13 (every 10 minutes) but you have to walk from the Weedon Road. Ask for a day rider (£3.40 which is cheaper than official car parks) and you get unlimited travel on all Stagecoach buses for the whole day so it is a reasonable price and allows you to have a drink!

Travelling by train? Northampton train station is over two miles from the ground, so it is probably best to hire a taxi. Buses also run directly past the train station.
