Colchester United's Geraint Williams has picked up the Championship manager of the month award for September in the wake of his side's unbeaten run. The U's won three and drew two of their five games during the month, including a memorable 1-0 local derby victory against Ipswich Town. Williams' men have not tasted defeat in the Championship since a 2-1 loss at West Brom on August 19 and are now up to 13th in the table. "This award is recognition for everyone at the club including the backroom staff who work so hard," said Williams. Cardiff City's Dave Jones, Preston North End's Paul Simpson and Ipswich Town's Jim Magilton were the other bosses nominated for the award.
