Williams confirms Halford stance

23 August 2006 03:03
Colchester United boss Geraint Williams hopes his ongoing bid to bolster his squad will convince Greg Halford his future lies at Layer Road. The U's have made a disastrous start to the new season with four successive Championship defeats and a shock 1-0 Carling Cup loss at League Two side MK Dons on Tuesday. As a result the versatile Halford revealed that he would like to move on before the August 31 transfer deadline, but Williams is intent on keeping him and adding several new faces. He said: "We are not looking for him to leave at this time. There is a valuation for Greg - as there is with all players - that will have to be met before we even consider looking at the situation. "We have made no secret of the fact that we are doing all we can to bring players in, so shipping them out is the last thing on my mind."
