Williams completes switch to U's

The former Manchester United trainee arrives at the Community Stadium for an undisclosed fee to become U's boss Paul Lambert's fifth summer signing. Williams made 36 appearances for Carlisle last season and will vie with Mark Cousins for the first-team gloves following Dean Gerken's recent switch to Bristol City. He could feature in Colchester's opening pre-season friendly against Tiptree United on Saturday. Lambert has also brought in Ashley Vincent, David Fox, Lee Beevers and Magnus Okuonghae ahead of the new League One campaign.
