Ward takes up U's role

Colchester United have appointed John Ward as the new assistant manager at the Community Stadium.

The U's unveiled former Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd as their new manager earlier in the week and he has moved swiftly to secure the services of Ward.

The 58-year-old has been out of management since resigning as Carlisle United boss ten months ago.

The former York City, Bristol Rovers, Bristol City and Cheltenham Town boss had been coaching at Stockport County this season.
