Ward rues wasteful Us

John Ward was disappointed with how his Colchester side faded late on as they fell to only their second defeat of the campaign against Wycombe and duly exited the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.Kevin Betsy fired Wanderers into a 75th-minute lead before turning provider for Scott Davies six minutes later to secure a 2-0 victory for the League Two visitors and send them through to the southern section quarter-finals.Ward said: "I'm disappointed with the way that we kind of went in the last 20 minutes of the game. It just shows you how tough first-team football is for the guys who haven't been out there regularly, even for short periods of the game."It's hard to pick up the pace of it and they learnt a lesson as well. We've moved it around and it was important for the likes of Tom Bender, Steven Gillespie and Kayode Odejayi to get some football."There was some good things to come out of it but the disappointment from it was that we've gone forward enough times and not scored. Their goalkeeper made some good saves during the game and that's his job to do that, but we have to improve on that."We made some tired decisions towards the end of the game and that worries me a bit."
