Vernon returns to U's

Colchester United have revealed that they completed the permanent signing of Blackpool striker Scott Vernon just before the January transfer window closed at midnight on Thursday.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Layer Road towards the end of the 2005-06 campaign, scoring once in eight appearances for the U's.

Vernon started his career at Oldham Athletic, scoring 27 times in 52 starts and 36 substitute appearances for the Latics.

He moved to Blackpool in the summer of 2005 and found the net 23 times in 87 matches for the Seasiders although hehas spent most of the last three months on the substitute's bench.
