Colchester United have been successful with their appeal against the red card shown to Phil Ifil in the 3-1 defeat by Hull City at Layer Road in midweek.
The U's defender was dismissed just 14 minutes into the game by referee Pat Miller for a late challenge on Tigers striker Fraizer Campbell, which the official deemed to be dangerous play at the time.
However, an FA disciplinary panel has now rescinded the red card, freeing Ifil from a potential three-game suspension.
U's boss Geraint Williams told the club's official website: "We are delighted this decision has been corrected.
"I was disappointed on the night because various people had a lot of comments to make on the incident without having seen it again closely.
"Getting the decision overturned hasn't helped us on the night, but I'm pleased common sense has prevailed."
