Colchester United are hopeful of securing a swift return back to the Championship after their relegation was confirmed on Wednesday evening.
The U's were relegated after a combination of fellow strugglers Barnsley defeating Watford and the fact that Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester City still have to play each other.
Geraint Williams's side have collected just 36 points from 42 games and have conceded 76 goals in the Championship this season.
"We are doing what we can to make sure we've got every chance for an immediate return," chief executive Marie Partner told the club's official website.
"As disappointed as we all are, we now have to kick on with what we've been doing over the past six months, which is to step up our planning and preparation to ensure we get back up there as soon as possible.
"I am sure that the players will look to instil faith in the fans with some positive results in the final games, in order to encourage them to stick with us and be part of our hopes and dreams for next season and beyond.
"We may be down now, but there are a lot of positive things going on and we are all doing what we can behind the scenes to make sure that we've got every chance for an immediate return."
