Colchester United have completed club record transfer fee moves for Spurs midfielder Mark Yeates and MK Dons striker Clive Platt.
Both players have joined the U's in six-figure deals, with Yeates returning to Layer Road on a permanent basis after a previous loan stint.
Yeates, 22, spent last season out on loan at Hull City and Leicester City, having struggled to make a first-team impact at White Hart Lane.
Platt, 29, had been with the Dons since January 2005, scoring 29 goals in 113 appearances.
United chief executive Marie Partner told the club's official website: "These are the first two signings in what will be a very busy campaign in securing the club's squad for next season's push in the Championship.
"There is a great deal of exciting news to come."
The U's moved into the transfer market after seeing Jamie Cureton, Chris Iwelumo and Richard Garcia leave the club this summer.
Meanwhile, Colchester are poised to announce another major coup on Wednesday, with Teddy Sheringham expected to be named as the new player-coach at Layer Road.
