U's step up Fox hunt

Colchester United have had a bid for Walsall defender Daniel Fox accepted by the Saddlers. The relegation-threatened U's have already signed two players this month - Chris Coyne and Phil Ifil - as they attempt to hold on to their Championship status. Colchester's chief executive Marie Partner told the club's official website: "To confirm reports elsewhere, we've had a firm bid accepted by Walsall for Daniel Fox. "Further discussions will now take place after official permission by Walsall was given to talk to the player." The full-back moved to the Banks' Stadium from Everton in summer 2005 and has gone on to score six goals in 118 appearances for the League One side.
