Colchester United will back Jamie Guy after the striker pleaded guilty in court, following a disturbance in the town centre three weeks ago.
The 19-year-old, who has made 42 first-team appearances for the U's, was fined £550 by the judge.
A statement on the club's official website read: "It is of course disappointing when anyone associated with the club finds themselves in this position.
"Manager Geraint Williams has since spoken to Jamie and we will be dealing with this matter internally.
"Jamie will now continue his preparations to be ready for pre-season training and the start of the new campaign with Colchester United."
