U's seal Mills loan

Colchester United have sealed a month-long loan deal for Manchester City defender Matthew Mills.

The 20-year-old has made just two first-team appearances in his first year with the Citizens, having joined the Premiership club for £250,000 from Southampton last January.

U's boss Geraint Williams told the club's official website: "We've had him watched and he's a defender who likes to get stuck in and do the job that a defender should do.

"He's been in the first-team picture this season for Manchester City and played for them against Wigan in October, so he's a good player to get on board."
