U's seal Maybury signing

Colchester United have signed experienced left-back Alan Maybury on a contract running until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old has been training with the U's in recent weeks and has impressed boss Paul Lambert enough to earn a chance to cement a spot with the League One club.

Maybury was a free agent, having previously made his name during spells with Hearts and Leicester City.

Meanwhile, U's boss Paul Lambert has confirmed that he is hoping to make changes to his misfiring squad in the January transfer window.

He told The Gazette: "I have a rough idea of what I want in terms of who will stay and leave and who will come in.

"It's up to me to get players in who will do well for this football club and help the current ones drive it on.

"Some players will leave, but at the minute it's the same group of lads."
