Colchester United boss Paul Lambert has dropped a strong hint that he will offer trialist defender Alan Maybury a permanent contract.
The 30-year-old former Leeds United, Leicester City, Hearts and Aberdeen player impressed Lambert during a behind-closed-doors game earlier in the week.
"He did great on Tuesday. He cruised it, to be honest and you'd expect that from him," Lambert told the club's official website.
"I know what he can do, he's a fit player and a good professional.
"He's an international who's played at a high level and he'd give us a bit of experience in the building. We'll have another chat and see what he has to say."
