U's opt to keep Ephraim
22 Dec 2006 - 09:50:41
Colchester United manager Geraint Williams is delighted to have been given the chance to extend Hogan Ephraim's loan spell with the club by another month.
The 18-year-old West Ham United striker has made two substitute appearances for the U's during his first month at Layer Road, but Williams has been pleased with his contribution to the side's excellent recent run.
"From day one, he's been very enthusiastic and fitted in well," he told the club's official website.
"With his original deal due to expire, we asked him if he'd like to stay and he was willing to do so. We've been very impressed with him and he's been enjoying his football.
"He's had to be patient, of course, but he's clearly got ability and his attitude has been spot on. He knows that he's got to work hard, but it's good to have Hogan and Jamie Guy around.
"They are pushing the senior strikers and, as a result, Jamie (Cureton) and Chris (Iwelumo) are scoring goals."
