Colchester United have concluded their second piece of transfer window business by bringing Tottenham defender Phil Ifil to Layer Road.
The 21-year old product of the White Hart Lane youth system has joined the U's for an 'undisclosed six figure fee' and could become the club's record signing subject to clauses in the deal.
Ifil has been on loan at Championship rivals Southampton for the past three months and joins former Luton captain Chris Coyne in becoming a new signing at the Essex club.
"I am delighted with the signings and we have a couple more live bids out there that we're actively pursuing," chairman Robbie Cowling told the club's official website.
"I would expect more activity before the end of January."
