U's capture Wolves winger

Colchester United have announced the loan signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers wing man Lewis Gobern.

The 23-year-old has struggled with injury and found first-team chances hard to come by at Molineux.

The midfielder joins for an initial month having not featured for the Championship leaders in a competitive game for the past two seasons. Gobern has previously had loan spells at Blackpool, Bury and Hartlepool.

"It's good to get out and have a chance to play having been out for two years," Gobern told Wolves' official website.

"My injury problems are a thing of the past now and I'm looking forward to getting going."

Gobern could make his debut for the U's against Cheltenham on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Colchester have allowed Sunday Wasiu and Dean Gerken to leave the club on loan with the players joining Luton and Darlington respectively.
