Colchester United have announced an operating profit of £2.4million for the year ending May 2007.
The record figure relates to increased gate receipts from the Essex club's first season in the Championship and also takes into account the sale of defender Greg Halford to Reading.
The U's are currently three points adrift at the foot of the Championship table.
"For the past two seasons since our promotion, the club has had to compete in an extremely competitive market within the Championship against clubs that enjoy attendances far in excess of the 6,000 capacity we have at Layer Road," read a club statement.
"The club in its endeavours will continue to strive for success and, with the (new) stadium on the horizon and the passion of the supporters coming through, there is every reason to suggest that the future growth of this club can continue."
