U's - Platt going nowhere
16 Jul 2009 - 12:50:52
Colchester United have quashed speculation that striker Clive Platt is to leave the club to join Norwich City.
The Canaries were reportedly interested in taking the player to Carrow Road as they prepare for life in League One, with suggestions that the Us were ready to listen to offers for the 31-year-old.
But Colchester assistant manager Ian Culverhouse slammed talk of Platt leaving.
"Clive isn't going anywhere," Culverhouse told the Gazette. "He's an integral part of our plans for the new season."
Meanwhile, crocked defender Paul Reid has suffered another injury.
Reid was stricken with a broken knee cap last season and has broken down in his efforts to regain fitness for next term.
He will now see a consultant, but is set to sit out the start of the new season.
