Tierney targeting U's stay

Colchester United loanee Marc Tierney is hoping to impress with the League One club and secure a permanent deal with the U's. The 23-year-old former Oldham Athletic left-back left Shrewsbury Town to link up with the U's and he has his eyes set on a return to the Championship. He told the East Anglian Daily Times: "Long-term, I'm looking to sign for Colchester permanently. It's now just about a fee being sorted out. "I made my decision quickly, having spoken to the chairman (Robbie Cowling) and the manager (Paul Lambert). "I'm impressed with the ambition of the club. They match mine, because they too want to get back into the Championship. My mind was made up after speaking to the manager. "Despite the lowly league position, I knew that there were some very good players here."
