Surgery to sideline Vincent

Colchester United winger Ashley Vincent faces a spell on the sidelines after being told he needs surgery on his troublesome ankle problem.

Vincent has been struggling to recover from the injury he suffered during last month's clash at Swindon Town.

"We've discovered a floating bone in Ashley's ankle and, while we could leave it alone and hope the problem settles on its own, we've decided to have the operation done and get the problem out of the way," said U's boss Aidy Boothroyd.

"Ashley will go for the operation and, six to eight weeks down the line, it will be like having a brand new player in the squad."
