Summer move suits Halford

Colchester United are confident that star wing-back Greg Halford will not leave the club until next summer at the earliest.

The 22-year-old is on the wanted lists of several Premiership clubs, but U's boss Geraint Williams is hopeful that Halford will stay put for now.

He told BBC Essex: "I don't think he'll be a Colchester United player into the start of next season.

"Greg's made it obvious that his contract runs out in the summer and he'd like to move to a bigger club.

"There's nothing wrong with that at all as long as it is done in the right way and Greg has certainly done that."
