Southampton close to Hammond deal

Southampton have confirmed they are in advanced talks with Colchester captain Dean Hammond over a move to St Mary's. Saints hope to conclude their discussions with 26-year-old midfielder within the next 24 hours. Hammond, who has made more than 200 league appearances, started his career with Brighton and Hove Albion.
