Skipper boost for U's

Colchester United captain Karl Duguid expects to be fit for the U's next match after shrugging off an ankle injury.

Duguid, 29, was stretchered off during last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Stoke City, but has been given the all clear to resume training and possibly face West Bromwich Albion on October 20.

"It's not as bad as we first thought," he said.

"It's settled down and the swelling has gone down, so as things stand at the moment I'd say I'll be fit.

"It could flare up but hopefully I'll be ready to face West Brom. It's a big game and I certainly don't want to miss it."
