Ribeiro set for derby clash

Colchester United could put loan signing Christian Ribeiro straight back into the starting line-up for the Essex derby against Southend United after recovering from injury.

The Bristol City defender has missed the last two games with a groin strain but he comes into contention for the Monday night clash in front of the television cameras at Weston Homes Community Stadium.

He is enjoying life with the U's so much that he would be willing to extend his stay.

Speaking to reporters, Ribeiro said: "I was glad to come down here and I'd be more than happy to stay here if it gets extended.

"It looks good on the CV to say I've played X-amount of games.

"Fingers crossed by the end of the season I'll have played 15-20 league games which will be a really successful season for me."

Aidy Boothroyd's League One high-flyers boast a proud home record and they will be keen to further aid their promotion charge with another win against Steve Tilson's Shrimpers.
