Teddy Sheringham has ruled himself out of the running for the managerial vacancy at Colchester United.
The former England striker finished his career with one season at the U's but is not interested in returning to the club as a successor to departed former boss Paul Lambert.
Lambert stunned the League One club after leaving to join Norwich City earlier in the week.
"Teddy will not be applying for the job," Sheringham's agent Barry Nevill told the Gazette newspaper.
Meanwhile, former West Ham United defender Julian Dicks has confirmed his interest in the job despite his only previous managerial experience coming in non-league football.
