Colchester United striker Marino Keith has decided to hang up his boots after failing to recover from persistent Achilles injuries.
The 32-year-old forward has been sidelined for 18 months and had started just 12 games since signing for the U's two years ago.
"I feel now is the time to make the decision based on my family situation and my specialist's advice," admitted the former Plymouth and Dundee United striker.
"I've been quite fortunate. I've been part of teams that have won three Championships and won four promotions.
"It's come a bit early, but in saying that I've been a professional for 12 years now so I consider myself quite fortunate to have had that chance."
