Keeper extends U's stint

Colchester United have agreed a deal to keep goalkeeper Jimmy Walker at the club for a further month.

The U's head to MK Dons on Monday evening and Walker is expected to take his place in Paul Lambert's squad subject to clearance from the Football League.

Meanwhile, Colchester have cooled their interest in Mike Williamson and Rob Jones after lodging six-figure bids for the defenders last week.

It is understood that Wycombe and Hibernian rejected offers for their Williamson and Jones respectively, though no larger bids will be placed.

Colchester chairman Robbie Cowling said: "At this stage, we will not be going back with improved offers for the two players in question.

"We feel that our valuation for the two players is fair."

It is likely that Lambert will now explore other options to strengthen his squad during the January transfer window.
