Halford boost for U's

Colchester United have been given a boost by the news that Greg Halford's foot injury is not as serious as initially feared.

The club's medical staff thought he may have broken a toe during Monday's 2-1 defeat at Coventry City, but tests have revealed the problem is only severe bruising.

Halford is now expected to be available to face Southampton at the weekend.

Kevin Watson is a doubt for the visit of the Saints because of a calf injury, while Richard Garcia will miss out through suspension.
