Colchester United defender George Elokobi has handed in a transfer request.
The Cameroon-born star has been the subject of interest from numerous clubs this season including Celtic, Reading and Charlton Athletic after an impressive start to the campaign for the U's.
Elokobi had been an ever-present for Colchester until being named on the substitute's bench for the club's last two games.
The 21-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I've played 14 games on the bounce and then I was dropped. I was told how this came about by the manager and I was baffled.
"I obviously don't pay much attention to the media, but I know clubs have been watching me.
"I'm a young player who just wants to be playing first-team football. I want to improve and I can only do that by playing and so I've asked for a transfer."
U's boss Geraint Williams told the club's official website: "I'm obviously very disappointed that George feels it necessary to hand in this transfer request.
"There has been no offer for George, and we don't want to encourage any, because we feel that he has a bright future here."
