Colchester United boss Phil Parkinson was a relieved man after a double blast from midfielder Neil Danns ensured a precious 2-0 victory against relegation-threatened Hartlepool.
Parkinson said: "We have had some rough luck in recent weeks, but you can't dwell on that because that's part of football and it's part of life.
"We never stopped believing and I felt that we just needed that little bit of inspiration.
"You can't always rely on the strikers to score and it was Neil who was to give us that spark and that inspiration.
"He took his goals well. He may not have scored so frequently in recent weeks, but that's because other teams have marked him closely."
