Cureton backs U's rise

Colchester United forward Jamie Cureton has backed his side to continue their amazing run of form in the Championship and challenge for a play-off place.

The U's moved up to sixth place in the table on the back of a 3-0 weekend win at home to Stoke City, making it nine league wins in a row at Layer Road.

Cureton told the East Anglian Daily Times: "There's no reason why we can't finish in the play-offs, although we have other things to achieve first.

"It's a great feeling to be sixth in the table, but the job is not done yet.

"We want to get to the magic 50 points as quickly as possible and then see what we can achieve.

"Of course, we didn't expect to be sitting in sixth place before Christmas, but it's been no fluke."
