Businessman Robbie Cowling has finally taken full control of Colchester United after buying out former chairman Peter Heard.
No details of the sums involved in the takeover have been disclosed but Cowling has confirmed his determination to try and bring success to the Layer Road outfit.
He said: "The structure of the deal reflects Peter Heard's devotion to the club and my long-term commitment to help support the club financially."
A statement on the club's official website read: "Colchester United are pleased to welcome local businessman and football fan Robbie Cowling onto their board, following the transfer of the controlling interest of the club from Mr Heard to Mr Cowling.
"Jobserve have been linked with Colchester before as the club's main sponsor for two seasons. His company are currently the main shirt sponsor for West Ham, the club he has supported from birth and who are themselves currently involved in an unrelated takeover.
"The U's are determined to maintain Championship status and although they recognise a tremendous battle is on their hands in the short term they believe Robbie's appointment will prove beneficial to their long-term objectives."
