Sears set to miss out

Colchester are unlikely to welcome back Freddie Sears for the Good Friday visit of third-placed Bournemouth.

The striker has missed the U's last four games with a knee injury and despite returning to training earlier this week is unlikely to be risked over the Easter period, meaning he will also sit out of Monday's trip to Oldham.

Colchester are hopeful, though, that he will then be fully fit to feature in the club's remaining five matches of the campaign.

The postponement of last weekend's home clash against MK Dons means George Porter is still to start his three-match suspension, while striker Jabo Ibehre is itching to make his comeback from a three-match ban of his own but will finally get the chance against the Cherries.

Defender Tom Eastman continues to miss out due to injury.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has no fresh injury concerns.

The Cherries boss, who saw his side make it three wins on the bounce against Bury last weekend, has the option of recalling captain Tommy Elphick to the starting line-up as the defender continues his recovery back to full fitness.

Howe admits he will have to look at rotating his squad for the home game with Scunthorpe on Monday but says he will play his best possible team against the struggling U's.

Brett Pitman is set to get the nod up front again having scored four in his last five appearances for a Bournemouth side who are only outside the automatic promotion places on goal difference.

The forward has been in excellent form since winning his place back in the side, scoring four in his last five appearances.

Long-term absentees Miles Addison, Stephen Purches and Stephane Zubar remain sidelined.
