Colchester chairman left happy
14 Aug 2009 - 14:58:16
Colchester United chairman Robbie Cowling believes the club's hard work and perseverance in the transfer market over the summer has worked out perfectly.
After making a number of enquiries during pre-season, manager Paul Lambert moved swiftly to sign Kevin Lisbie on a season-long loan from Ipswich Town and snapped up goalkeeper Ben Williams from Carlisle United.
Both played an important role in the opening day thrashing of Norwich City, where they won 7-1.
Speaking to Daily Gazette, Cowling said: "Paul and his team are very well organised, so we knew right from the beginning who we were after.
"That helped, because negotiations are hard.
"You can make 50 phone calls and it can end in nothing.
"It's like a lot of things - if you work hard, you get rewarded.
