Aidy Boothroyd has been confirmed as the new manager of League One side Colchester United. The former Watford boss has been unveiled as Paul Lambert's successor at the Weston Homes Community Stadium following his surprise departure to Norwich City last month. Boothroyd has been out of management since leaving the Hornets last November. The 38-year-old led Watford into the Premier League in 2006 but left by mutual consent following their disappointing start to the last Championship campaign. "The former Watford chief was in the stands to watch the game against Gillingham on Tuesday night and will be unveiled as U's boss in a lunchtime press conference," read a club statement.
