Barker eyes U's stay

Loan defender Chris Barker says he would welcome the chance to extend his stay at Colchester United beyond the end of the season.

The 27-year-old left-back has impressed during his season-long loan from Cardiff City, helping the U's earn a position in the top half of the Championship table.

He told The Gazette: "I'd be happy to stay if an offer is there.

"The club have been fantastic for me, the fans and the players are great and I've really enjoyed it.

"I came to Colchester to play football and that's what I've done so we'll see what happens in the summer. But I'm just concentrating on every game at the moment."
