We lacked cutting edge - Ward
Colchester boss John Ward felt his side were not clinical enough in the 2-0 defeat at Notts County.
The Us should have taken the lead early on but David Mooney was unlucky to hit the post with a long-range lob and Kayode Odejayi was denied by goalkeeper Stuart Nelson. A Craig Westcarr strike and own goal from Nathan Clarke gave the hosts victory.
Ward said: "We are disappointed, but I can't grumble about the result. David Mooney had a good effort after five minutes. We had chances before the game got going.
"We're not clinical enough at times. The second goal was sloppy. We are looking for a foul and I didn't see anyone.
"The first goal I thought the keeper was in no man's land and I still thought Lee Beevers would clear.
"They weren't good and we've been ragged. It's been an evening where we threatened to do a little bit but not done it. I said at half-time a goal back would have got the crowd concerned but we didn't get it."
