Wasiu shown the door by Colchester
Wasiu, who scored three goals in 20 appearances for United last term, is out of contract this summer and boss Paul Lambert has confirmed there will be no renewed offer on the table, as he looks to freshen up his options.
Wasiu told the Gazette: "I had a chat with the manager. He said that he wouldn't be able to offer me another contract.
"I could still be at Colchester next season but there won't be a contract.
"If another offer came in, I would hope to be playing and scoring for them (a new club). As a striker, you have to be playing regular football and scoring goals."
