Ward wary after narrow win
Colchester manager John Ward was a relieved man after his side snatched a 1-0 win over Oldham to bring to an end their four-match losing streak.
Ashley Vincent fired the second-half winner when he latched onto David Mooney's pass and calmly tucked the ball low past Dean Brill from 15 yards, while home keeper Ben Williams made a late save from Dale Stephens to secure the points.
"There were one or two nail-biting moments because 1-0 is a precious lead," said Ward.
"But the players stuck to their task after four defeats and the supporters who were here appreciated that.
"Oldham had gone 10 games without a win but we gave them full respect.
"We knew we had to be careful and when we let them in Ben Williams made a good save."
