Ward out to end fatigue

John Ward will give his players a much-needed rest after Colchester suffered their third defeat in a row at the weekend. The Us were beaten 3-1 by MK Dons as their npower League One play-off ambitions suffered a hammer blow. And Ward revealed that his troops were suffering after a run of nine games in just 28 days. "One or two of the lads are finding it a little bit difficult, with the games coming quickly," he told the Daily Gazette. "I'm going to give them a rest, because they look as though they need one. It's not an excuse at all, it's just my observation. "I think we need to switch off a little bit and come back fresh." Colchester, who are now 13 points adrift of the play-off places, face a trip to Tranmere on Saturday.
