Ward keen on Clarke deal

Colchester manager John Ward wants to keep defender Nathan Clarke at the club next season. The 27-year-old centre-half has been a hugely impressive performer since signing on loan from Huddersfield in January. Clarke has another year on his Terriers contract but is out of favour at the Galpharm Stadium. However, with Huddersfield battling for automatic promotion Ward will have to bide his time if he is to get his man. "I like Nathan Clarke and if it was possible then, yes, it would be something I'd look at," said Ward. "However, it's out of my hands at the moment and I guess I won't be able to do anything about it until the summer."
