Ward holds hands up

Colchester manager John Ward admitted a draw would probably have been a fair result after his side snatched a 1-0 win at Walsall. The deadlock was finally broken when Andy Bond pounced in the 83rd minute, heading in Brian Wilson's perfect cross to extend the Us' unbeaten run to four games. Ward said: "We have had some tight games, and in this one had a draw been the result I would have said it was probably fair. "But we have managed to get the win after drawing three games in which, I thought, we deserved to win a couple of them. "We were strong at the back and when Walsall have players like Reuben Reid, Jon Macken and Darren Byfield, it's hard to keep a clean sheet here."
