Ward happy with point

Colchester boss John Ward admitted his side got lucky with their goal in the 1-1 draw at Brentford - but thought a point apiece in the end was a fair outcome. Ian Henderson headed the Us in front after quarter of an hour, reacting quickest to Steven Gillespie's mishit shot, but the Bees earned a share of the spoils when Sam Saunders curled home a free-kick 74 minutes in. Ward said: "On the balance of play I thought a draw was a fair result in what were extremely difficult conditions. "We did get a bit of a break with the goal when our striker miscued it and it was headed in but you have to take advantage of those breaks and I thought we did for much of the first half. "In the second half you expect Brentford to come back and have a go at you, which they did, but I thought we coped with it extremely well and even created a few chances which could have wrapped it up for us. "We've tried to be positive in keeping two forwards up front with wingers to back them up and I thought our performance overall justified the point."
