Ward hails two-goal Gillespie

Colchester manager John Ward reserved praise for two-goal hero Steven Gillespie after his side came from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1. Veteran striker Steve Fletcher came off the bench to give the Cherries a second-half lead, but fellow substitute Gillespie had the final word with a late brace. "I've been watching him over the last two or three weeks and he and I had a little chat He was ahead of the pack to get on," said Ward. "Now it's up to him to maintain that level of brightness and sharpness. If he gets opportunities he's got a good chance of hitting the back of a net. "He's a goalscorer. He's got to play more games and be strong and fit to do that but he and I have been together a long while. "We know each other pretty well and trust each other. When he's on the pitch he's a real asset and hopefully in the next few games he can be just that."
